"Big Bird" is a theater artist based in Macau. He serves as Artistic Director of Hiu Hoc Drama Society, Advisor to the Macau Homegrown Arts Festival, and Advisor to the Shenzhen Bay Fringe Festival.
With nearly forty years of active involvement in the Macau theater scene, he has won awards for Outstanding Direction, Acting, Playwriting, and Stage Visual Effects at theater festivals in Hong Kong, Shatin, and Macau. His work is extensive and diverse, ranging from absurdist theater to children's plays, and from commercial productions to experimental theater.
His works have been performed in Portugal, Brazil, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Foshan, and Hangzhou. Bus Encounter: A Match Made in 2001, which he wrote and directed, was Macau's first performance staged inside a moving vehicle.
His publications include Adventures of a Maverick: A Collection of Plays by Big Bird. Three of his works—God Said, "Let There Be Light, and There Was Light, The Macau Chronicles of 73 and a Half Tenants, and Mother Has Left Home (which he directed)—were featured in the 30 Years of Experimental Theater exhibition at the Ming Contemporary Art Museum in Shanghai, with video recordings of the productions now part of the museum's collection.
In addition to his artistic work, Big Bird has held positions in the Macau government, where he has overseen major cultural events including the Macau Fringe Festival, Hush! Beach Music Festival, and the Macau International Parade.
