We need to accept that not everyone knows how to love. In truth, learning how to love is something we spend our entire lives trying to do.

A Taiwanese-style snack shop in Shekou quietly transforms into a rehearsal space for a theater production team; a university student is shooting a family documentary; a regular customer wavers over whether to move their family out of Shenzhen; and a server secretly records a podcast after closing time, trying to make sense of the complex bond with her mother. As these individuals cross paths and chat at different times—amidst the intertwining of food, memories, rehearsals, and mundane moments—ineffable family dynamics and the predicaments of life gradually come to the surface.

Based on real-life experiences and extensive field research, the work explores the complicated relationships between generations in Chinese families. There is no constructed stage or set; performers, staff and audiences share the same living space.
