- Introduction
Who are you?Where do I come from? Where are they going?
Stage(s) of Passage invites you into the rehearsal hall of Hakka Huachao Opera. Three young performers arrive from a small town to join the company, using bodies, voices, and movements to find their place and reclaim their names on stage. You will watch them step, sing, and gesture—each attempt reshaping the stage; hear their doubts, hopes, and discoveries; and feel the transition from unseen to seen, from the margins to the center. Rehearsal flows with life—the stage, playgrounds, train platforms, rehearsal rooms, even corners of their homes all shape the play. You are not only watching—you are part of this river.
